This workshop will walk you through the essentials of writing successful grant applications: what funders look for, how to frame your work, and how to avoid common pitfalls. No matter what funder you plan to apply to, this session will offer practical tools and helpful insight.

MarryAnn Anderson (Little Dog Creative Consulting, SmartGrant.ca)

MaryAnn Anderson is a consultant & administrator who has worked in the BC arts and cultural community since 1989. As founder of Little Dog Creative Consulting (2005), MaryAnn has assisted hundreds of clients with grant writing and building their fundraising capacity. This work has evolved into the founding of SmartGrant.ca (2025), a one-stop source for BC arts grants and funding information, and the only dedicated resource of its kind in Canada. With 20+ years’ experience as an arts consultant and professional grant writer, she has written thousands of grants and developed a deep understanding of a wide range of funding programs.
