Chorfest 2017

Join your voice with 200+ singers who will converge on Victoria the 2017 May long weekend!

Chorfest is the BC Choral Federation’s flagship event and has been held annually each May for almost 40 years. This year’s theme is a very special one for our province and country:
United in Song! Celebrating Canada’s 150th.

Victoria is honoured to be hosting BCCF Chorfest 2017!

– our provincial capital will be celebrating Victoria Day
– Canada will be celebrating its sesquicentennial
– Victoria has a rich choral singing tradition boasting nationally, the most community choirs per capita

The weekend of activities will include outstanding clinicians for every age group, featuring Canadian and international works representing our theme, United in Song – Celebrating Canada’s 150th. There will be wonderful performance opportunities including a major concert at the UVic Farquhar Auditorium.

The BC Choral Federation
is thrilled to announce the participation of

the Victoria Symphony at BCCF Chorfest 2017!

This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between the Victoria Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.

BCCF Chorfest 2017 singers, under the direction of conductor Jon Washburn, will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beautiful Serenade to Music in the full choral/orchestral version, as well as works by Stephen Chatman and Ian McDougall. Be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join with fellow choralists from across British Columbia in performance with these wonderful orchestral musicians.

The mission of the Victoria Symphony is:
To enrich lives through the shared experience of extraordinary music.
