Recap: #MusicMonday around the province!

Curious what happened on Music Monday (May 6) this year? We’ve collected a recap of choral activities!

Dr. Adam Con led a large group of students on the steps of the BC Legislature.

More than 200 children raised their voices outdoors in Sooke for the festivities!

700 students took the stage at Powell River’s Evergreen Theatre.

Over 2,000 students from elementary to high school celebrated at the Q Centre in Colwood.

5 schools and 500 people converged in Smithers.

This year’s celebrations featured the late Oscar Peterson’s composition, “Hymn To Freedom”, as the official #MusicMonday anthem! (The Victoria celebrations were even attended by his wife, Kelly.)

Hear how great these students from Highland Park Elementary in Armstrong (SD83: North Okanagan-Shuswap) sound singing the Hymn to Freedom!

Nine different choral ensembles of all ages performed together at the Comox Valley’s 4th Annual Choral Musaic in celebration of National Music Monday, pictured below:
