The BCCF is working on a new strategic plan. Meet our consultants!
Did you know? The BCCF is in the process of developing a new Strategic Plan. Here’s an introduction to our consulting team, Power of Discourse, as we look toward your input over the coming months.
Harmonizing Vision: The BCCF to Collaborate with Power of Discourse Consulting for a New Strategic Plan!
Power of Discourse Consulting (PoD-C) is pleased to officially announce that we will be working with the BCCF over the next year to co-create a five-year strategic plan.
About our Company
Power of Discourse Consulting is an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) company based in Canada that was co-founded by three women, Donneil, Ruth, and Venecia. PoD-C was established to foster inclusive and equitable spaces through transformative dialogue, and its existence is fueled by our undeniable passion for EDI. You can find Ruth Nakalyowa’s, Donneil McNab’s, and Venecia Williams’ bios here.
Our client-centric services include consulting, co-creating strategic plans, designing learning and development sessions, and providing workshops for free or at a low cost to educators and youth organizations through our educational arm. We were one of the community partners that worked with the Government of British Columbia to gather data to inform the Anti-racism Legislation Act which became law in June 2022.
Our Work with the BCCF
We will be working with the BCCF to co-create a five-year strategic plan through an Access, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (AEDI) lens. This work will include info-gathering sessions with the Board and Staff, surveys, and focus group discussions with Members.
We Want to Hear from You
Throughout our workplan, we have built in opportunities for member engagement, with the hope that your perspectives and experiences will inform the next strategic direction of the BCCF. Later this year, you will be able to respond to an anonymous survey and in the winter and spring of 2024, you will be invited to participate in virtual and in-person focus group discussions.
How We Work
Throughout our various projects, we rely on the 3 C’s to successfully complete our work: consult, collaborate, and communicate. While we bring experience in strategic planning and AEDI, you know your work best. Through consultation methods such as surveys and focus group discussions, we will engage with you to identify key priorities, values, and guiding principles, which will, in turn, inform the strategic plan. To ensure that the strategic plan is written in the BCCF’s voice and language, we aim to collaborate closely with the BCCF’s Board and Staff and plan on incorporating feedback mechanisms throughout our process. And lastly, we aim to stay in constant communication with the BCCF, during and after this process, to ensure that project objectives are met. To better understand what drives our work, you can find our values here.
Fun fact!
All three team members sang in choirs when we were younger! Ruth was a part of her school choir from Grades 9-11 and went to participate in a choral competition (they lost!). Donneil was a member of her church’s youth choir and also competed in a choral competition. They placed second, and this is a memory that still brings a smile to Donneil’s face to this day. She also dabbled in singing through her university’s performing arts club’s choir during her undergraduate degree. Venecia was a member of her choir in high school, and they participated in several competitions. As a university instructor in Japan, Venecia started a charity band, the Wise Guys, with colleagues and students. She was the lead vocalist and principal choreographer. Each year they would put on a concert to assist residents affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
For the duration of this project, we aim to share updates with you along the way and invite you to reach out to us any time if you have questions.
We look forward to this transformative journey with you all!
Sincerely,
Donneil, Ruth, and Venecia
