We are seeking a passionate and experienced choir leader to co-lead or lead our Heart to Heart Mount St. Mary Hospital Intergenerational Choir alongside our music therapist, Marie Slade who is project lead for the choir.

This is a meaningful opportunity to make music with a diverse group of participants across generations — including adults living with dementia — in a supportive hospital community setting. The repertoire would need to encompass songs with some degree of familiarity to the older population, but could also include a fewl classical pieces, world music or contemporary pieces. Ability to adapt to the needs of the moment is a helpful skill with this choir. Depending on skill set and experience, the position could involve full leadership of the choir, or co-leadership with the music therapist.

About the Role:

  • Co-lead (or lead) weekly choir rehearsals with the MSM music therapist

  • Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 6:30–7:30 PM

  • Schedule: April–June and September–March (summer break)

- Some flexibility to cancel some sessions as needed

  • One-year contract with option to continue

  • Compensation: $250/week

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • Previous experience leading or directing a choir

  • Proficiency in piano and/or guitar

  • Experience working with multiple generations

  • Experience with individuals living with dementia

  • A collaborative spirit and warmth for community music-making

- Choral arrangement skills

If this sounds like you — or someone you know — we'd love to hear from you. Please reach out to me, Marie Slade at salonhost@gmail.com.

Warm regards,

Marie Slade
