NOTICE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA CHORAL FEDERATION
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
SATURDAY, MAY 30, 2020 AT 12:00 P.M. (noon) PST
Via ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING
All current individual BCCF members are welcome to attend, and each BCCF member choir can send one voting representative (i.e. their president or choir director) who does not have to be an individual member themselves.
For security purposes and to verify BCCF membership status, we require each participant to RSVP in advance. (Deadline: Friday, May 29.)
Please do so here.
Once you have pre-registered, you will receive an email between May 25-29 (the week before the AGM) with a link to the Zoom meeting and a link to the reports and paperwork for the meeting.
The meeting agenda can be viewed here.
Dear BC Choral Federation members,
How quickly news is changing in our world! I wanted to connect with you at this very tenuous time and send personal wishes for your well-being. There never has been a time when I have been more thankful for social media and various internet connections so we can continue to communicate easily with each other. Many creative songs and encouraging comments are flowing across our emails, texts, and other platforms like Zoom and Facebook.
The COVID-19 virus has certainly affected each one of us. Some of you have been affected financially, some have compromised respiratory conditions that make this time even more frightening, and some of you live alone and really miss the social interactions that you have always enjoyed.
I received a letter from the Board of Choral Canada a short while ago. I don’t think I could word how we feel at the BC Choral Federation any better than what Kellie Walsh wrote in the Choral Canada letter. Here is an excerpt:
Please know that Choral Canada stands with you in these unprecedented times. We have all been heartbroken to see our artistic seasons and all of the beautiful, community-driven music projects we have been preparing over recent months, seemingly vanish or at least be put on indefinite hold as the country, indeed the planet, deals with the global health crisis at hand. We are devastated for our students and their institutions seeing their educational programs cancelled or moved online, an impractical solution for musicians. We are sorry to see our industry members have their businesses feel the impact of these troubling economic times. Like us, our Provincial Choral Organizations are cancelling many programs that were created to serve you, our choral community. We long for a time when we will all be able to come together to sing our stories once again.
Please know that the BCCF is thinking of you and the Board of Directors send their most heartfelt wishes for your health and safety during this time.
Sincerely yours,
Janette Walker
BCCF President
