CHORFEST 2010 - a "Royal" Chorfest

May 7-9, 2010

Chorfest 2010 will be conducted by Bruce Pullan with a Gala Performance at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

Chorfest is the BC Choral Federation's flagship event. Held each May in conjunction with our AGM, Chorfest is a wonderful weekend adventure of singing and choral community-building.

This year's Chorfest:

The program will include:

Handel: Coronation Anthem No. 2 - The King Shall Rejoice
(first written for the coronation of George II in 1727)

Tavener: Song for Athene
(sung at the funeral of Princess Diana)

Vaughan Williams: Let All The World In Every Corner Sing
(the last of the Five Mystical Songs and sung at the Queen's Jubilee

Gilbert & Sullivan: A Regular Royal Queen
(from their operetta The Gondoliers)

Rutter: God Be In My Head
(sung at the Queen Mother's Funeral)

Parry: Coronation Anthem - I was Glad
(sung at every coronation anthem since 1902)

Music can be ordered with registration to Chorfest, and comes with a part-predominant rehearsal CD to help singers come with the notes already learned.

The Chorfest concert will also feature the BCYC under the direction of Dr Debra Cairns, and the debut of the BC Chamber Choir, giving the premiere performance of "Let the Great Song Come" by Imant Raminsh, commissioned by BCCF in honour of Joyce Maguire.
