A Day in the Life of the CDC

  • The typical CDC day begins with a vocal technique hour led by an experienced voice teacher, focusing on specific issues, but also on making sure that participants are singing well.
  • Each day holds at least one, if not two, group conducting sessions, offering all participants the opportunity to discuss specific technique and have some hands-on practice.
  • Specific seminars cover such topics as diction, intonation and blend/balance, while lunchtime round-table sessions offer the chance for questions, discussion and problem-solving.
  • The afternoon begins with physical and vocal warm-ups.
  • All participants are encouraged to stay for the master-class sessions, forming the choir, and observing their colleagues at work.
  • Both at lunchtime and in late afternoon there is the opportunity for a vocal or keyboard coaching session with an experienced teacher - a session that may confirm core technique, help with problem-solving, or give techniques that may be useful: harmonic patterns for warm-ups, assistance with score-reading and the like.
